Dear friends and family,
Capoeira Raça is organizing a Rodathon, a 3-hour event in which participants are sponsored to play capoeira. It is $3 per game, and since we love playing capoeira we need to get sponsored for as many games as possible! Also, it is for a good cause: to raise money for our Batizado on Sept. 24th. A Batizado is the ceremony during which new capoeiristas get officially welcomed into the group by a mestre, and older capoeiristas can receive new cords. The money raised will be used to fly in mestres and professores from all over the world to teach capoeira here in Portland. This includes our teacher's teacher, Mestre China from Bahia, Brazil.
So please sponsor your favorite capoeirista(s) for 1, 2, or even 10 games if you can, and come watch us play the games you sponsored! The Rodathon is a public event. It will be a great way to learn about capoeira and see it in a live performance. If you can't make it in person don't worry, we'll have video posted on this site soon!
